GSmart S1200 available in Singapore: Chic design and new UI

SINGAPORE, September 10, 2009,Taiwan-based GIGA-BYTE Communications Inc. announced today its foray into the competitive Southeast Asia mobile phone market with the launch of the stylish streamlined GPS PDA phone: the GSmart S1200 at Comex 2009 Singapore. Despite the super slim and compact size, GSmart S1200 is packed with powerful functionalities such as Smart Pack UI, IM2GO, and G-Widget, which not only aims at the stylish user but also offers the user a mobile experience full of variety.

GSmart S1200 runs on the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional platform and allows for upgrade to the new Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional when it is available in October.

GSmart S1200 – Ultimate Fun with Smart Pack UI The Smart Pack UI is the newest GSmart User Interface which is exclusively created in-house. With themes for the Windows Mobile system such as Smart Zone, Chinese Painting, Smart Touch and Live Nature, the Smart Pack UI offers flexibility for users to switch themes easily. The instinctive operation of each UI enables users to activate functions simply and quickly.

Smart Zone: The menu design as “3 by 3 grid” concept and divided into groups of function configurations. Users are able to find corresponding function and execute applications in two steps. the uniqueness of Smart Zone is that it extract all functional groups in one screen, which provides you a quick overview and access to the needed applications.

Chinese Painting: Chinese Painting UI integrates black, white, Chinese-style stamp and uses Chinese calligraphy painting as the wall-paper. On the main page, the background changes to show different time of the day and also simulate the weather condition by updating the global weather forecast. Functional groups can be found by sliding to the left, right and upwards on the screen. This is an Instinctive, user-friendly UI which is full of oriental atmosphere.

Live Nature: The Live Nature UI gives the user the feeling of looking out of the window, to the scenery of nature. Therefore, like Chinese Painting, the background will also change to simulate the weather forecasted and show different time of the day, such as morning, daytime, sunset, and night. Sliding down on the screen, the Tag-like function menu will show up with twelve applications on each page, for users to find applications quickly and easily.

Smart Touch: The Smart Touch UI simplifies Windows Mobile operations by showing all functions in three sections on the home page. Basic telecommunication information such as incoming calls, emails and messages on the top of the screen; time, calendar, smart album view tools appear on the middle of the screen; and the powerful shortcut bars allow users to add and delete all programs on the lower part of the screen. All the programs can be accessed in one touch. Its simple display, easy operation and changeable background are the attractive points of Smart Touch.

GSmart S1200 – Ultimate Fun with G-Widget
G-Widget is a GSmart developed application which contains Calendar, Alarm Clock, Note, Calculator, Weather, and etc. These applications will reside on the G-Widget after tapping simplified icons. Users can check status easily by sliding up the screen. The movable Widget frames allow users the option to create the best layout and even create a personal G-Widget.

GSmart S1200 – Ultimate Fun with IM2GO
Especially for Southeast Aisan users who are heavy users of online chat, the GSmart S1200 is bundled with IM2GO, a software which enables multi-IM connectivity to MSN messenger,Yahoo messenger, ICQ, QQ, AIM and Chikka concurrently. IM2GO is a simple and efficient tool for international users that need quick communications via different online messenger tools, so that they do not need to install individual programs which take up memory. The software is a licensed application- dveloped by Tjat Systems, the world leader in delivering mobile access for web messaging services - and is bundled as a value added service by Adventus.

The GSmart S1200 has a recommended retail price of S$768 (excl. GST). It is available at the Gigabyte GSmart Booth 6811 at Comex 2009 Singapore and selected retail outlets. Just for COMEX, buyers can buy the S1200 at S$699 (excl. GST).
