What happened that you decided to do a hard reset? You can remove the battery for some hours then try again.

Are you sure you're doing it right? What do you press?
In the engineering mode you can only perform some tests, for example flash test, maybe your device have got some problems with it.

The registry was deleted by error. Therefore, I would like to do hard rest so that it can be back to normal. But it seems my device has problem as well. Do you have any other alternative for hard rest?

Have you already checked flash in the engineering menu?

Hello all
I have problem simmilar to Aodaod. I can't perform HardReset - phone freeze on GSmart Menu. I can't upgrade firmware freeze on logo too. In engineering menu flash test fail with message: "Fail! WChipid = 0x80". I suspect that bootblock is damaged, but System work almost OK.
There is strange think: in engineering menu/Device info i have OS Version: 1.16.59 (looks like ROM from i120 with WindowsMobile 6), on system i have:
V1.14.84 EXTROM: V102 i128 Malaysia (latest official update for i128).
I don't think, that Flash are broken, because ROM is in CPU flash (i128 have 2 flash chip: first - inside CPU, second 128MB - Storage Flash).
GSmart CPU is Intel PXA272FC5416 it mean: PXA272-type, F- Flash, C5-stepping, 416- 416MHz.

on post Firmware Downgrading... Is it possible? Donjuon wrote:
Donjuon wrote:After I flash rom downgrading to V.1.14.58 with tv record it still works good but can't open message, so I decide toupgrade firmware to v.1.14.84 But it happens again my device i128 I see only logo and can't do hard reset. I confronted with this situation about last 3 months and after I change my motherboard I can Upgrade firmware to wm6.1 aidarbest easily but now it happens again. Does this problem cause by motherboard? thanks My friend :(

Donjuon wrote:Sorry as I told you before My device can't do a hard reset and upgrade any rom, it stops at gigabyte logo after I flash down to this rom(i128 1.14.58 with TV rec ). Now I can't find how to solve this problem yet. I also try to leave battery for 1 day and go to engineering mode (I choose Boot Config..E-boot"Launch Image"). Now both of these methods still doesn't help :(

I don't known history of my phone (i buy it on second hand), but i suspect that be flashed inpropper ROM version. In my opinion main problem is invalid bootblock (not the same revision than rest of flash). Is any possibility to restore flash ROM by cable ?

There's no any information about restoring flash on i128, that's why the only solution is to replace the whole motherboard.

I have some succes with hard reset. I found SmartPhone with identical CPU (O2 XDA STEALTH), and software for flashing those phone by ActiveSync - DSUU (O2 stealth Device Software Update Utility) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachm ... 1201313909).
It contains two application for running on Phone: GbcFormat.exe and UpdateRom.exe. GbcFormat.exe - it looks like software making hard reset. I tried flashing my GSmart i128 with ROM V1.14.84:
- change EPENG11484.nb0 to gbcall.nb0,
- copying custfile folder from upgrade pack to DSUU folder.
- running update
DSUU formated flash and after this phone reseted and hanged on splash screen. I reset again by stylus in reset hole and phone start with screen calibration, and other stuff which doing after HardReset. Now my i128 is like new.
Upgrade by SD cart still doesn't work. Flash Test on Engineering menu still fail, i think differences between bootloader and rest of software make than flashing can't be done. I stil have OS Version: 1.16.59 in info Enginerring menu and V1.14.84 in system. I looking for service manual for i128/i120, because i have find TDI,TDO,TCK ,TMS, TRST test point for JTAG flasing.
