How to Disable SMS threading in WM 6.1 on Gsmart128?

Hi,
I have successfully upgraded my gsmart i128 to Wm 6.1 thanks to firmware provided by mybestpda.
However, after couple of weeks using it, I don't like the default sms thread and would like to change back to classics SMS stye (WM 5).
Based on my search, I have found some way by altering registry :

1. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\ & create a new DWORD value with value name as SMSInboxThreadingDisabled and set it value data to 1 - no success

2. Add new OEM key as defined in internet (so it become HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\OEM\) and do same thing as above - still no change.

3. Install the DisableSMSThreading.cab but still no luck

I have done soft & hard reset after every tips above. Now I really clueless.
If anyone have proven tips on disabling this sms thread & back to the old good way on gsmarti128, please kindly inform me.

As I understood from your message, the registry changes disappear after a soft reset. To avoid this remember the rule: after you changed something in the registry turn off the screen (stand-by mode), wait at least five seconds, turn the screen, then soft reset. Good luck!

Dattad, thanks for your prompt reply.
I use CeReg Editor to add the registry key & value and save the registry before soft & hard reset.
I just inform that the 3 tips above didn't work and ask whether anyone have another tip which successfully disable SMS thread.

This trick works like a charm.
Just two questions:
1. are you sure you create a dword value, not string or smth. else?
2. are you sure the registry changes remain there after a soft reset?

Hi dattad,

I want to ask related to sms also, how can I make the sms notification or tone stop if I already open the message, it is like when you retrieve a call the tone are ringing and when you press answer the tone are stop.
Because my current setting are still using default, is it possible to change it?

Sorry if my question is so basic, I'm very newbie in windows mobile phone previously using symbian phone.

An unusual question really SMS sounds're so short by default and nobody bothers to stop them. I have only one thing to suggest you: go to Start - Settings - Sounds & Notifications and change your preferences.

Hi dattad,

Sorry if my question is a bit unusual, but I set the sms notification using wav file with approximately 50 second duration. So actually is it possible when I already press reply or open the message tone also stop like symbian phone, because sometimes if I'm on a meeting & I receive sms it is quite bothering also. The reason I change the tone because I want to make it different.

You should make your wav file shorter. No way to stop it at any moment.

Thanks Dattad! You're right !
In CeReg Editor it still shows but from another editor (Mobile Registry Editor) there's no changed keys.
I find the problem : when using CeReg Editor, I have to soft-reset from the apps.
Sorry for my stupidity, this my 1st attempt to change registry entries in PDA.
Problem solved.
